The questions worth asking any sitter

You are handing someone your keys and an animal you love. It is fair to ask a lot of questions first.

Most families ask about the same four things. The answers are below, grouped by topic. If yours isn’t here, ask Hope directly at the walkthrough. For a checklist you can use with any sitter, see questions to ask a pet sitter.

Will I hear from them?

At least one text and photo every day on overnights, and after every drop-in.

Can they handle my pet’s needs?

Medications, blind and deaf dogs, diabetic pets, feral cats. All written into a care plan.

Is my home in good hands?

Photos on arrival and departure, and the spaces your sitter used cleaned before you get home.

What if something goes wrong?

You hear about it right away. If the mistake is Hope’s, she owns it.

What families found after they booked

When we returned home, our pets were happy, relaxed, and well cared for, and our home was clean.

Hope was wonderful caring for our feral cat while we were away. It was so reassuring to see that our cat was being cared for with such patience and compassion.

Frequently asked questions

Booking and the walkthrough

How do I book Hope?

Call or text Hope at 720-786-0801, email her, or use the form at the bottom of this page. The first step is always a free walkthrough at your home, before you book anything.

What happens at the free walkthrough?

Hope or a sitter from her team comes to your home and meets your pets (want Hope herself? just ask). You go through the routine together: medications with doses and times, feeding, litter, walk routes, quirks, and your vet and emergency contacts. All of it goes into a written care plan, so nothing depends on memory.

How far ahead should I book?

For holidays and school breaks, two to four weeks ahead is best. Otherwise, reach out as soon as you know your dates.

What is your cancellation policy?

Hope goes over cancellations and changes with you when you book, so you know the terms before anything is confirmed.

Overnights

Does the sitter actually stay the night at my house?

Yes. An overnight means your sitter spends the night in your home with your pets, so they are not alone overnight and your house is not empty. See all of Hope’s services.

Will the sitter look after the house too?

Yes. On overnights your sitter brings in mail and packages, waters plants, turns lights on and off, and takes out the trash.

Updates and communication

How often will I get updates?

You get at least one text and photo every day on overnights, and after every drop-in visit. First-time clients get a morning and an evening update by default.

What if something goes wrong?

Hope tells you right away if anything seems off with your pet or your home. If a mistake is hers, she owns it and tells you plainly.

Medications and special needs

Can Hope care for a pet on medication?

Medication schedules are written into the care plan, with doses and times. Tell Hope exactly what your pet needs at the walkthrough and she will tell you honestly what she can do.

Does Hope work with blind, deaf, diabetic or feral pets?

Yes. Hope specializes in blind and deaf dogs, feral cats, diabetic pets and pets with cancer. Read how she approaches special-needs care.

Keys, your home and trust

Who will actually be caring for my pets?

Hope or one of the sitters she trained. Hope leads a small local team, not an app: every sitter is a close friend she personally vetted and trained. You’ll know who’s coming before every visit, and you can ask for the same sitter again. Hope has many years of experience and volunteered at Francis Veterinary Hospital in Golden from age 14, cleaning exam rooms, helping with X-rays and observing surgeries. Hope’s Loving Pet Care is insured.

How will my home be treated?

Your sitter takes photos on arrival and departure, so you can see how the house was found and how it was left. They clean the spaces they used and strip the bed before you get home.
