Boulder pet sitting, planned ahead

Boulder is the far western edge of Hope’s service area. That is why her Boulder work centers on overnights and visits booked in advance.

When Hope or one of her sitters stays the night, the drive happens once and your pets get a full evening, morning and everything between. From Table Mesa and Martin Acres in the south to Wonderland Lake and Gunbarrel up north, a walkthrough comes first, so the plan is settled well before you leave.

Nights without you

Older dogs and nervous cats do better when someone sleeps in the house. An overnight keeps bedtime and breakfast on schedule.

Trips booked weeks out

Conferences, holidays, a week in the mountains. Booking early gives time for a walkthrough and a care plan before the first night.

Open Space rules

Boulder’s trails come with leash rules, trailhead rules and seasonal closures. Your dog’s routes and limits get written down.

Wind and sudden weather

Strong winter winds come down the canyons, and warm days can turn cold fast. Walks are adjusted to the day, not forced.

How a Boulder stay works

Settled before you pack

Boulder bookings run on a plan made in advance. Here is the order things happen in.

  1. Ask early

Send your dates and your part of Boulder by call, text or the form. A few weeks of notice makes everything easier.

  2. Walk through

Hope or someone from her team visits your home at no charge, meets your pets and goes over doors, alarms, feeding and the trails your dog knows.

  3. Plan it

Medication schedules, walk routes, leash rules for those routes, your vet and a 24-hour emergency hospital all go into the written care plan.

  4. Stay and report

Your sitter sleeps at your place and texts a photo every day. First stays get a morning and an evening update.

Boulder details in your pet’s care plan

Boulder has more dog rules than most towns. The ones that matter for your dog are written down at the walkthrough.

Voice and Sight Tag program

On City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks land, dogs stay on a hand-held leash unless they wear a Voice and Sight tag and are on a trail that allows it. The tag comes from a city program for dog guardians, with a required online class. Dogs are leashed at every trailhead either way.

Everyday walking routes

The paved Boulder Creek Path runs through the middle of town, and the loop around Wonderland Lake in North Boulder is short and gentle. Dogs are leashed on both. Some Open Space trails also have seasonal leash rules to protect wildlife.

Fenced dog parks

Valmont Dog Park has a large-dog side and a small-dog side. East Boulder Dog Park has a pond for dogs who like to swim. Whether your dog goes, and how often, is your call in the care plan.

24-hour emergency care in Boulder

Boulder has round-the-clock emergency hospitals, including Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) and Colorado Animal Specialty and Emergency. Your choice goes in the care plan next to your regular vet, and Hope tells you right away if something seems wrong.

Other cities Hope covers

East of Boulder, Hope sits in Louisville, Superior and Erie, and across the north metro to her home in Westminster.

Boulder pet sitting questions

Does Hope work in Boulder?

Yes. Boulder is part of Hope’s service area. She lives in Westminster, so Boulder care is mostly overnights and walks or visits arranged ahead of time.

How far ahead should I book in Boulder?

As early as you can, especially for holidays. That leaves room for the free walkthrough and a written care plan before your trip. Last-minute requests are worth asking about, and Hope will tell you honestly whether she can take them.

Will my dog be off leash on Open Space trails?

Boulder’s Voice and Sight tag is a program for dog guardians, and dogs without it stay on a hand-held leash on Open Space land. Every sitter follows each trail’s rules. Talk through your dog’s routes and habits at the walkthrough so they go into the care plan.

Which emergency vet do you use in Boulder?

The one you choose. Boulder has 24-hour hospitals such as Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) and Colorado Animal Specialty and Emergency. Your pick goes in the care plan with your regular vet, and Hope contacts you right away if anything seems off.

What does an overnight in Boulder cost?

$120 a night for one dog. New clients pay $100 a night for every night of their first stay. Use the house sitting calculator for other pets, or get your exact rate at the walkthrough.
